ORANGE COUNTY, CAThursday, November 3, 2016 – #OdysseoOCOdysseo’s 65 magnificent horses are enjoying a relaxing 10-day stay at a private farm in Southern California while the logistic and technical teams are working on completing the Odysseo Village at the junction of the I-405 & the SR-133 in Irvine for the equestrian extravaganza’s return to Orange County for the holiday season starting November 16.

Following a successful run in San Jose, the four-legged stars were transported to a lavish farm in San Diego County, in specially equipped trailers alongside Odysseo’s equine specialists.  The Odysseo herd comprising horses of 11 different breeds including Appaloosa, Arabian, Australian Stockhorse, Holsteiner, Lusitano, Paint Horse, Percheron Hanoverian Cross, Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, Selle Français and Spanish Purebred (P.R.E.) is under the care of a 20-person stable team.  Before, during and after transport, trainers, veterinarian, health technicians, groomers, and a farrier create a comfortable environment for the horses and provide daily health care, grooming, and activities.

At their retreat, expansive paddocks surround the four-legged stars of Odysseo where they can play, bathe in the sun or roll in the mud. This interlude between shows is part of Cavalia’s horse care and training philosophy, which is based on understanding the needs, preferences, and emotions of the animals, and on mutual respect, kindness, patience, and trust.

Odysseo is a show unlike any other on the planet, an immersive theatrical experience in which horses are front and center. Imagined by Normand Latourelle – creator of Cavalia and renowned for combining different forms of artistic expression and reinventing the scenic space – Odysseo is a veritable revolution in live performance that makes hearts race. Audiences of all ages will be transported on an epic journey to some of nature’s greatest wonders by this breathtaking production that features 65 horses and 48 talented riders, acrobats, aerialists, dancers and musicians.

The four-legged stars play in complicity and with freedom, in a respectful relationship with their human counterparts, creating a moving artistic and emotive partnership. A liberty number, in which purebred Arabian horses are directed only by the soft murmurs of their trainer, and a fabulous caravan act that comprises people and horses too numerous to count, are amongst the breathtaking scenes that will leave every spectator captivated and touched.

Odysseo’s mindboggling theatrical effects are as spectacular as they are numerous: a state-of-the-art video screen three times the size of the world’s largest cinema screens; a three-story mountain for dazzling perspectives; décor both intricate and grandiose that seems to pull the audience onto the gigantic stage, and a real lake made of 40,000 gallons of recycled water which magically appears for a splashing finale. In sum, the show creates places no one has ever seen before – places where one can feel the deep connection between horse and man.
