Children from the Foundation for Blind Children of Pheonix Experience a Sensory Adventure in Scottsdale

Today, a group of children from The Foundation for blind children of Phoenix had a rare opportunity to experience an amazing and moving adventure at Cavalia Odysseo in Scottsdale. The children, who rely heavily on their other senses to fully understand the world, were guided our artists through a sensory journey created specifically to meet their special needs.

The group discovered our equestrian and acrobatic world through a variety of hands-on exercises. Members of the cast allowed the youth to touch the horse’s soft coats, brush and groom them. They smelled and touched the horses’ food and felt and tried the saddles. The young guests also played percussion with musicians, discovered the texture of the costumes and danced with acrobats. At the end of the tour, riders brought their horses to a full cantering speed, allowing the children to feel the ground quake beneath the incredible power of the equine stars.

At the end of the tour, tickets to the show were offered to each child so they can experience the beauty and magic of the show with their family.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION FOR BLIND CHILDREN: The Foundation for Blind Children was founded in 1952 by parents of blind children who wanted services for their blind children in Phoenix, instead of having to send them to the State Institution for the Blind in Tucson. The Foundation for Blind Children serves the blind and visually impaired of all ages, from birth to currently 102 years old. As the only agency of its kind in Arizona, the Foundation for Blind Children is an essential resource to families and children with blindness or low vision. With three Valley locations (East Valley, West Valley and Central Phoenix), The Foundation for Blind Children strive to serve as “the” community’s resource for blind, visually impaired, and multi-handicapped children, adults, and their families.
