MONTREAL, Quebec – (Tuesday, June 26, 2018) – The world’s largest big top tent has been raised today on Sainte Catherine Street downtown Montreal for the much-anticipated return of Odysseo in Quebec. A roaring success in Canada, U.S. and Mexico, Odysseo has mesmerized more than three million spectators to date. The spectacular production featuring 70 horses and 50 riders, acrobats, dancers and musicians will be presented starting July 25 under the White Big Top at the entrance of the Jacques Cartier Bridge, on Sainte Catherine Street East at the corner of De Lorimier Avenue. It’s the first time Cavalia sets up downtown, at an exceptional location that is at the heart of the city’s renowned summer festivities. With public transit and a bridge nearby, travelling to and from the show site will be a breeze.

In the coming weeks, a team of 80 experienced workers will be in charge of building the inside of the White Big Top and creating the Odysseo village. With unparalleled technical, visual and sound infrastructure, the inside of the tent will include bleachers of 2,074 seats and a stage of 1,626 square metres — an area larger than an NHL hockey rink — which will require 10,000 tonnes of stone, earth and sand to create. This unique tent has several exceptional features, notably a technical grid that can support 80 tonnes of equipment for the stage needs of the show, including the majestic life-size merry-go-round. This technical grid and the technology used for the realization of the show are worthy of the largest permanent installations in Las Vegas, New York or London. The huge stage establishes a space of freedom for the horses and performers that enables cutting-edge and large-scale creative performances.

Cavalia for the benefit of children’s health
As the gigantic White Big Top rose to the sky, Cavalia’s Chief Operator Officer David Tardif-Latourelle, Odysseo’s Executive Producer Mathieu Latourelle, Montreal Mayor’s Associate Councillior Sophie Mauzerolle and actor Paul Doucet, spokesperson for the Fondation Charles-Bruneau held a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony heralding the official arrival of the production into downtown Montreal. Cavalia’s involvement with the Fondation Charles-Bruneau continues its longstanding support of children’s health. For its Montreal run, Cavalia is committing to donate half of its profits from the VIP ticket sales to the foundation to help them continue their mission and help children with cancer to heal and grow healthy.

More shows added!
Due to strong ticket sales, the producers of Odysseo are delighted to announce the addition of two more weeks of shows to its run in Montreal. Matinee and evening performances are now scheduled through September 3.
